December 2004: an empty ballast train with graders at either end comes down the line south from Parkes to Stockinbingal. Here the 81 class loco comes off and waits for the three 48s that will take the train to Temora, which then arrive with a fuel tanker from Cootamundra. The signal box at Stockinbingal was still manned and the signaller does the switching and paperwork for the train, which then heads into the sunset.
